Pride Parade 2008

For yet another year, we rented a bus to get us to the parade site.  What a blessing not having to find a parking spot, walk for blocks to reach the float, or worrying about your vehicle!  Somehow, stepping on one of those "land yachts" sends your mind back to school days!  The bus pulled up at the church about 6:45 and we were in Montrose by 7:00.  When we got to our float, everyone was so pleased with the way it turned out!

Of course our entry in the parade is not just a float.  We have our banner, flaggers, singers, and folks passing out "throws."  This year, our flaggers featured the colors of the rainbow (I wonder where that idea came from?).

The weather was perfect for the parade.  Waiting for the parade to start gave folks a little time to sightsee as well as to "just have fun."

This year's float was one of the most unique floats in the parade.  The side view of the float featured the image from our new logo - the silhouette of folks praising God.  The logo was painted on plexiglass and was back lighted by rotating colors of bright light.  And what would our float be without lots of glitter?  Community Gospel Church was spelled out in rainbow glitter colors to accent the blue and silver skirting of the float.

The back of the float featured a giant screen surrounded by a rainbow curtain.  Once again God's people were on the cutting edge as a 3 minute video was looped and shown on the 14 foot wall.  The video featured snapshots of church life here at Community Gospel.

What would a Community Gospel float be without fantastic music?  This year, Sven, Chris & Christa did an incredible job with "We Will Stand."  The crowd was very receptive as their harmony and message of Jesus Christ filled the air down Westheimer.

Of course we know that all of this did not just "happen."  It took imagination, skill, and a whole lot of work.  We send our sincere thanks to Sis. Michelle and Bro. Tim for taking this project and making it a HUGE success!  At the end of the day, we know THOUSANDS of seeds were planted and we eagerly await the harvest!
