| Our opening speaker was Bro. Doug. Anyone who has ever preached a revival knows the first night is always the hardest. But WOW - Doug started things out with a bang. He preached on "God doesn't waste His breath!" Think about it. The breath of God was used to make Adam a living soul. Jesus breathed on the disciples and told them to receive the Holy Ghost. God simply sent His Word to heal our diseases. That same breath was used to make some promises to Community Gospel. We have been told that we would be a praise unto the Lord. In lifting up the name of Jesus, a community would be drawn to Him. Because it does not come in our timing or in the way we may like does not mean God made a mistake. His Word is yea and amen! |
Brother Sam brought the message on Thursday evening. He preached a powerful sermon concerning what we see. Perception is a huge part of our reality. We can either see problems or possibilities, burdens or blessings, trials or triumphs. It all depends on what we chose to see. Ezekiel was asked what he saw before God showed him what was really there. Although there were only dry bones, God had Ezekiel speak to those bones. We were challenged to speak to the dry bones in our lives and believe God for breath to be breathed upon them.
| Sister Evelyn was the speaker Friday night. She preached a powerful sermon on settling with second best. One of the illustrations she used was the parable of the prodigal son. Although he was still a son, he was settling to eat slop with the pigs rather than dining at the father's table. The invitation is still being given to the world - come and dine! Praise God we no longer have to settle for the world's leftovers! |
Not only did Bro. Glenn bless us with a sample of his new CD being released at the end of November, he brought a great anniversary message to us Saturday evening. Anniversaries are times to remember the past, enjoy the present, and look forward to the future. God has truly blessed our church over the past 25 years. What a wonderful congregational family He has blessed us with. And what a future God has in store for Community Gospel!
| Sunday morning brought a full house. Bro. Sam preached one of the most exciting sermons ever preached here at Community Gospel. He brought out the fact that there were different kinds of people in the Kingdom of God. There are servants - both good and bad. There are folks who have developed a relationship to the point of being a friend of God. Finally, there is the Bride of Christ. Sam said he was sent by the Lord to ask Community Gospel a very important and serious question. Four words that has changed lives. "Will you marry me?" As a token of commitment, Sam and Jerry brought simple silver bands for those answering "YES!" What a blessing to see folks making a commitment to be in a loving relationship with Jesus! |
What would our celebration be without Jeff? Of course he ministered in song several times during the week, but it was his time to share the Word. He opened up his heart and gave us part of his personal testimony and the lessons God taught him over the past year. To be able to forgive, pray for, and love those who despitefully use us. Sounds a little like what Jesus DOES!
