Life Counseling Center

Life Counseling Center

The first Psalm tells us, "Blessed is the person that walks not in the counsel of the ungodly..."  For this reason, Community Gospel has opened a center where people can receive counsel for living from believers.  LCC is a place where the GLBT community can receive quality help for life's challenges.

Here are the answers to some FAQ's about LCC.

What services are offered?

A variety of counseling services are offered including individual, couple, and family counseling.  We can help on a wide range of issues from accepting sexual orientation, dealing with friends and family, to drug dependency.  If we are unable to help, we have a vast number of resources to refer the client to.

What are your counselor's credentials and what experience do they have?

Our initial counselors are Dennis and Evelyn Schave.  Dennis has been ministering for over 35 years.  For more than 25 years, he has worked as a counselor and was employed in the Youth Prison System of Washington State.  He has trained other professionals to be Substance Abuse Counselors.  Dennis has also served as Co-pastor, Deacon, Elder, Evangelist, and Teacher.  Dennis is a graduate of Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington.  His degrees in Sociology, Psychology, and Bible Studies have paved the way for counseling and teaching ministries.

Evelyn has a strong Christian background, working for the Lord for over 50 years.  She has served as an Evangelist, Youth Pastor, Worship Leader, and a Pastor.  Evelyn was also a founder and director of a drug rehabilitation center in Washington State.  Her life experiences, expertise in scripture, and nurturing spirit makes her an exceptional counselor.

Over ten years ago, the Schaves answered the call of the Lord to minister to the GLBT community.  Since that initial calling, they have traveled the country extensively, preaching the GOOD NEWS of the Gospel.  Of course, this calling did not come easily or without a price.  Like many in the GLBT community, the Schaves have been rejected by family members and long time friends because of their firm beliefs concerning their calling.  They too have been asked (and literally forced) to leave churches and organizations.  Their experiences have given them a true perspective on the challenges faced by the GLBT community.

What makes the Life Counseling Center unique?

There are many counseling centers that are "gay friendly", helping individuals and couples face the unique challenges facing the GLBT community.  However, most of these services are dealing with issues from a humanistic viewpoint.  Other counseling services are "faith based", and tend to encourage, if not demand, the individual to "change" their sexual orientation.  The Life Counseling Center is unique from the aspect of helping our community accept sexual orientation while maintaining a close relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.

What are the fees for your services?

We make every effort to make our services affordable to everyone.  The center was not opened as a money making proposition, but as a ministry to the community.  Therefore, fees are normally based upon a sliding scale and are quite affordable to everyone.
