Christopher Wellington
Pastor
Christopher & Jonathon

Christopher Wellington was raised as Chris Chiles in Flint, Michigan.  As a youth, he attended Faith Tabernacle (a Pentecostal church).  The church was ahead of its time in that it had a woman pastor by the name of Berniece Matejcek.  Under her leadership, the church grew to over 500 members.  It was there Christopher received the Lord Jesus at the age of 8 and was filled with the Holy Spirit shortly thereafter.

For eight years, Christopher was in an in-depth Bible study program at the church.  After graduation from high school, Christopher attended Lee College for one year.  He then returned back to Michigan where he met his partner Jonathon.  Shortly after their meeting, they moved to Houston and attended the local MCC.  In 1982, they heard of a Pentecostal church starting called Community Gospel.  They attended one of the first services and quickly fell in love with the church.

Check out that hat!

In 1988, the evangelistic group called "Revival" was formed.  The group travelled across the country holding concerts and revival meetings.  To help facilitate travel, Revival relocated to Phoenix.  After three years on the road, the group disbanded.  After much prayer, Christopher and Jonathon decided to return "home" to Houston.  They were looking forward to returning to Community Gospel and being supportive members.  A couple of weeks after their return, the pastor of the church resigned.  The membership continued to decline until it was down to eight people.  The only remaining board member asked Christopher if he would become pastor of the church.

Christopher accepted the offer and was officially installed as pastor of the church in March of 1991.  Since that time, the church has purchased its current home on Lillian and has grown to over 100 members.

Christopher & Jonathon with Nalani & Maile
In the summer of 2002, Christopher and Jonathon were attending a revival meeting in Tulsa.  Christopher was to preach the final service of the weekend.  At the close of the service, the Lord did a tremendous work.  The altars were filled with people wanting prayer.  For the first time in their ministry, Christopher and Jonathon were being used together to pray for people.  This proved to be a turning point in their ministry as they worked as a team that God brought together.  Since that time, a new and fresh anointing has been evident in their lives.
