Membership in Community Gospel is a bit different from most churches. To begin with, membership consists of entering into a covenant with the church for a specified period of time. Members joining the church in April covenant for a year, and members joining in October covenant for six months. Both covenants are renewable the first Sunday of April. To initially become a member, the candidate must attend membership classes.
Membership classes are held twice a year, once in March, and once in October. The classes instruct the prospective member in our basic beliefs, the church structure, what is expected from members, and what members can expect from the church.
As a member of Community Gospel Church, the candidate stands in covenant to support the church and it's mission to reach the lost for Jesus Christ. This is evidenced by:
- Attendance of services
- Financial support by bringing in tithes and offerings
- Praying for the church on a regular basis
- Living a life in a manner pleasing to the Lord
As a member of Community Gospel Church and walking in covenant with this body of believers, one can expect:
- To be instructed and guided by the Word of God
- To have the opportunity to serve the Lord
- Your name to be called in prayer on a weekly basis by the church leadership
- Use the church facility for various life events
- Access to prayer and hospital visitation
- Priority scheduling and discounted rates for counseling services at the Life Center
Prospective members must be in agreement with our basic beliefs and our Mission Statement:
- We have been called to be a praise unto the Lord. We hold regular services to worship and lift up the name of Jesus Christ. We believe and are witness of the grace and saving power of Jesus Christ being extended to ALL who call upon His name.
- God has placed a special messianic call upon this church to reach the GLBT community. While much emphasis is placed on this call, we certainly are not, nor will we be exclusive.
